On the 4th June, Katherine Wills, of Active First Aid Training, provided an exciting First Aid Training at Moelyci Environmental Centre. She took us through how to safely approach a person in need of first aid and make an assessment of both the conscious and unconscious casualty. She showed us how to go through what information to collect for the emergency services and how to do a simple hand over to the ambulance crew or paramedic. To put it all into practice, Katherine set up a simulated accident and with some very willing volunteers who really got into their roles, we put into practice what she had taught us. Chicken soup and red minted flavoured liquid featured, as well as very well acted drunken behaviour by one of the volunteers.
We are planning a first aid evening for dogs with Katherine for later in the year.
